ISSUE:

Adopt Resolution Nos. 20-03 and 20504 directing the Chairman and District Staff to file a petition with the Sumter County Board of County Commissioners and the City of Wildwood requesting the passage of an Ordinance amending Village Community Development District (VCDD) No. 9 boundaries.

The Developer has approached VCDD No. 9 and requested the Board of Supervisors petition to amend the boundaries to include additional acreage.  VCDD No. 9 currently consists of 1298.70 acres, more or less. The amendment would result in a net addition of approximately 11.1 acres in the City of Wildwood and is within the amendment size restrictions contained within Florida Statutes.

To accomplish this amendment, it is necessary to petition Sumter County, Florida as the establishing entity to adopt an Ordinance to amend VCDD No. 9’s boundaries pursuant to Chapter 190 of Florida Statutes. Additionally, Staff is requesting to petition the City of Wildwood as the expansion is within their municipal boundaries. In order to achieve this, the VCDD No. 9 Board of Supervisors must adopt Resolution Nos. 20-03 and 20-04 requesting to set a public hearing and subsequently adopt an Ordinance.  

The Developer has agreed to provide sufficient funds to the District to reimburse the District for any expenditures including, but not limited to, legal, engineering and other consultant fees, filing fees, administrative, and other expenses if any.

Staff respectfully requests that VCDD No. 9 adopt Resolution Nos. 20-03 and 20-04. Once adopted, Staff will file a petition with Sumter County and the City of Wildwood requesting passage of the Ordinance to amend VCDD No. 9’s boundaries.
